Come join us for our 2025 Winter Ceilidh in Point Loma, San Diego. The event will be on January 11, 2025 at the All Souls Episcopal Church, 1475 Catalina Blvd, San Diego, CA 92107. Dancing will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6.30pm. Light refreshments will be served after the dancing.
A Ceilidh (pronounced “Kay-Lee”) is like a barn dance but with a Scottish twist. No experience needed. All dances will be walked through and called. Donate what you choose/can afford, with a suggested donation of $10.
This event is designed for everyone and we are super excited to welcome new dancers. There are no expectations, no special equipment or clothes, and a partner is not required — it’s just for fun! Mistakes are part of the experience! We welcome dancers of all abilities and fitness levels. Come by yourself or feel free to bring along friends! No experience necessary!
This dancing is social Scottish Dancing, something like square dancing with a Scottish flare! Each dance will be walked through and called by our friendly host. Ceilidh Dancing is less formal than Scottish Country Dancing. If you’ve been considering giving Scottish Country Dancing a try, this is the perfect night to dip your toes in!
What to Wear: The most important thing is to be comfortable, wear shoes and clothes you can move in. Please bring clean, soft-soled shoes, non-marking flat shoes (no heels). Do not wear flip-flops, loose sandals or stiff, ballroom dance style shoes. You want a shoe with a flexible sole that isn’t clunky. A simple flat-sole sneaker will work. For clothing, men wear pants, shorts, or a kilt! Ladies often wear skirts or dresses, but they’re not required. Be comfortable!
